Accommodation and support that enables adults with disabilities to live in their own home, with the help they need to be independent. It allows people to choose where they want to live, who they want to live with, how they want to be supported, and what happens in their home.

These services involve a person living in their own home and receiving care and/or support in order to promote their independence. The care they receive is regulated by the Care Quality Commission, but the accommodation is not. The support that people receive is continuous, but is tailored to their individual needs. It aims to enable the person to be as autonomous and independent as possible, and usually involves social support rather than medical care.

Schemes that help adults to live as independently as possible in the community.

An alternative to residential care or living with family that enables adults with disabilities to live in their own home, with the help they need to be independent. It allows people to choose where they want to live, who they want to live with, how they want to be supported, and what happens in their home.

This covers a range of services that support people to live as independently as possible in the community. Service users are responsible for their own tenancies, own their home or are living with family or friends. They receive an agreed level of care and support tailored to their individual needs. Service users' support needs may vary, from those who are very able and receive support for a few hours a week to those who require support 24 hours a day.
